A disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ is not only a pupil but an adherent since they are spoken of to be imitators of the Lord Jesus Christ.

A disciple must be one of those who believed upon the Lord Jesus Christ and confessed him as Lord and savior.

Disciples can be both men and women as they are both referred to in the Bible. A female disciple named Tabitha is found in the Book of Acts Chapter 9 verse 36.
