What We Believe

David N. Hughes Ministries Inc.

  1. The Holy Scriptures

We believe in the authority and sufficiency of the Holy Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, as originally written, that it was verbally  inspired and is the product of Holy Spirit controlled men, and therefore is inerrant (does not wander from the truth) and infallible (incapable of wandering from the truth) in all matters which it speaks. (2 Timothy, 3:16 )

  1. The One True God

We believe there is only one living and true God, omniscient (all knowing), omnipotent (all powerful) and omnipresent (all present), an infinite Spirit, the maker of heaven and earth; inexpressibly glorious in holiness and worthy of all possible honor, confidence, and love; that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons, God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, equal in every divine perfection and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. (1 Corinthians, 8:6 )

  1. The Fatherhood of God

We reject the modernist and liberal teaching that God is the Father of all and that all are brothers. We believe He is the Spiritual Father only of those who are born again and brought into His household. Only those who are redeemed through the blood of Christ, having forgiveness of sins are our brothers. (John, 10:27 )

  1. Creation

We believe that God created all things out of nothing by a special act of creation without the use of evolutionary stages or ages, thus refuting any teachings concerning "Theistic Evolution" and the "Gap Theory"; that the Genesis account of creation is to be accepted literally, not allegorically or figuratively; and that the days of Genesis Chapter One were literal twenty-four hour days. (Gen. 1:1-2 )

  1. The Devil. or Satan

We believe in the reality and personality of Satan, the Devil, and that he was created by God as an angel but through pride and rebellion became the enemy of his creator; that he became the unholy god of this age and the ruler of all the powers of darkness and is destined to the judgment of an eternal justice in the Lake of Fire. ( Rev. 20:10)

    6. The Creation and Fall of Man

We believe that man was created in the image of God with mind, emotion, and will; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, are totally depraved and for those who reach moral responsibility (the age of accountability), become sinners in thought, word, and deed, and that they must be born-again to be accepted of God. ( John, 3:1-21 )

  1. The Person of Jesus Christ

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the second Person of the Trinity, is the Eternal Son of God, having always existed with the Father and Holy Spirit and that in His incarnation became man without ceasing to be God; that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man; that He thus became the God-man forever one person with two natures. ( Luke, 1:35 )

  1. The Death, Burial, Resurrection, and Ascension of Jesus Christ

We believe that as man, Christ was tempted, yet remained sinless; therefore was the only perfect sacrifice for the sins of all mankind through His substitutionary death; and that all who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood. We believe that He was buried; giving full evidence of His death, and that on the third day in the same body in which He suffered and died arose victoriously. We also believe that our Lord ascended into Heaven, that He is now seated at the right hand of the Father and is our High Priest and Divine Advocate with the Father. We believe that by His finished work on the cross and His unceasing ministry of intercession in glory, that Jesus Christ has procured for every believer eternal redemption, eternal salvation, and everlasting life. ( John, 14:6)

9.  The Person of the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person, equal with God the Father and God the Son and of the same nature; that He was active in creation; that He convicts man of sin, regenerates, baptizes, indwells, and seals at the moment of salvation; that He guides, teaches, sanctifies, and helps the believer in Jesus Christ through their daily life; that He is the sufficient power for godly living, Christian service, and spiritual worship; that the filling of the Holy Spirit is manifested by the fruits of the Spirit rather than by any specific spiritual gift; the He restrains the evil one until God's purpose is fulfilled, and bears witness to the truth of the Gospel in preaching and testimony. ( John, 14: 15-18 )

  1. Salvation

We believe that the salvation of sinners is divinely initiated and wholly of the grace of God alone through the mediatorial offices of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Who, by the appointment of the Father, voluntarily took upon Himself our nature, yet without sin, and honored the divine law by His personal obedience, thus qualifying Himself to be our Savior; that by the shedding of His blood in His death He fully satisfied the just demands of a holy and righteous God regarding sin; that His sacrifice consisted not in setting us an example in His death as a martyr, but was a voluntary substitution of Himself in the sinners place, the Just dying for the unjust, Christ the Lord bearing our sins in His own body on the tree; that having risen from the dead He is now enthroned in Heaven. He is in every way qualified to be a suitable, compassionate and all-sufficient Savior. We believe that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the only condition of salvation.

Repentance is a change of mind, heart, and purpose toward God prompted by the Holy Spirit and is an integral part of saving faith. (John, 3:1-8, 1 Corinthians 15:1-10 )

  1. Security of the Saints

We believe that all who are truly born again, having been purchased by the all sufficient shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ as the perfect and final sacrifice on Calvary, are kept by God the Father for Jesus Christ, having been sealed by the Holy Spirit until our day of redemption. (Ephesians, 1:13-14 )

12..   Human Sexuality

We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God's gift of sex. ( 1 Corinthians, 6:9-10)

  1. Marriage
    1. Marriage
      1. We believe that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman and therefore, a marriage for those of the same sex cannot to be sanctioned, performed, or otherwise cannot be supported by this ministry. (Gen, 2:24 )
      2. We believe that God created mankind in his image male man and female woman sexually different but with equal personal dignity. Any and all attempts to physically change alter or disagree with their created biological sex is a sin against the God who created them. This includes but not limited to elective same sex reassignment, transvestite, transgender or non – binary, genderqueer acts or conduct.                                                                                                                                                                  (Matthew 19:4)

  2. Abortion

We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of unborn human life. Abortion is murder. (Psalms, 139:14-16 )

  1. The Eternal State of the Saved and the Lost

We believe in a literal Heaven and a literal Hell. We believe Heaven is the place of eternal conscious joy for all who receive Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Hell is the place of eternal conscious punishment for all who reject Jesus Christ and those dying in their sin until the final judgment at which time death and Hell are cast into a literal Lake of Fire which is the place of eternal conscious punishment. ( Rev. 20:11-15, Luke,23: 42-43 )

The foregoing statements, while extensive, do not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
